Airflow Recommendations

What are the Airflow and Enclosure Requirements for the DISPLAX Tile Pro?

The DISPLAX Tile Pro is equipped with two internal fans designed to automatically regulate the display's operating temperature and ensure consistent touch performance.

When installing these units inside a custom enclosure, an architectural wall, or a tight recess, it is absolutely critical to guarantee adequate airflow. Tightly sealed environments will trap exhaust heat, which can lead to temporary touch malfunctions, unstable operation, and a significantly shortened hardware lifespan.

Custom Enclosure Design Rules

If you are designing a housing or recess for the Tile Pro, your integration team must strictly follow these ventilation guidelines:

  • Maintain Minimum Clearance: Leave sufficient free space around every fan. Do not place solid wood panels, drywall, or acoustic insulating materials directly over the air inlets or outlets.

  • Do Not Seal the Enclosure: Airflow must be able to circulate freely in and out of the housing.

  • Align Ventilation Slots: Design the enclosure with physical ventilation slots, louvers, or mesh panels that are positioned in direct alignment with the Tile Pro's fan exhaust paths.

  • Create Cross-Ventilation: For the most stable thermal environment, design a cross-ventilation path. Allow ambient, cool air to enter from the bottom or one side of the enclosure, and warm exhaust air to exit from the top or opposite side.

  • Avoid External Heat Sources: Keep the video wall enclosure away from direct, sustained sunlight, HVAC heating vents, or other heavy AV equipment that generates excessive heat.

High-Temperature Environments: If the ambient room temperature frequently approaches 40°C (104°F), the internal fans will not be enough. You must install an external, active cooling system (such as cabinet exhaust fans or dedicated AC) within the enclosure to assist the airflow.

Maintenance for 24/7 Installations

If your video wall is running continuously (24/7), you must perform periodic physical checks. Ensure that dust buildup has not obstructed the enclosure's ventilation mesh or the Tile Pro's fan intakes, and verify that warm air is successfully exhausting from the structure.
