With a powerful AD board that will handle the merging/splicing of the screens, DP 11 mode bypasses the limitation of the number of screens connected to a graphics card. This is because after the mosaic is configured using the TILE processor, the operating system will recognize all the screens as one, single display. Please note that the resolution output by the graphics card needs to be customized according to the aspect ratio of the entire videowall. Otherwise, the OS will set the video wall to a resolution of 1920x1080, which is the default resolution of one TILE.
In the example below there's a 2x8 video wall. In such a setup it's possible to divide the video wall into four branches of 4 TILES each.
With DP 12 the number of TILES connected to a machine is limited by the graphics card capability.
Each connected TILE is detected independently by the operating system. To set up the mosaic, it's necessary to use the graphics card control panel software.
DP 12 mode can also connect via daisy-chain feature.
