Multiple Touch Controllers

Multiple Touch Controllers

Overview

Displax Connect supports multiple DISPLAX Touch Controllers connected to the same system. When more than one controller is detected, Displax Connect provides a dedicated interface to view, select, and manage each controller individually.

This is especially useful in installations with:

  • Multiple touch displays

  • Video walls

  • Dual- or multi-monitor systems

  • Systems with several DISPLAX Skin sensors connected simultaneously

List of Touch Controllers

When multiple Touch Controllers are connected, Displax Connect displays a List of Touch Controllers as tabs on the left side of the application.

This list:

  • Shows all connected Touch Controllers

  • Highlights the currently selected controller (orange blinking light, and serial number in orange)

  • Displays basic identifying information, such as:

    • Product type (e.g., TILE, Ultra, Fit, etc.)

    • Serial number

    • Assigned label (if configured)

    • indicates whether TUIO is enabled on the controller (if supported)

      • The TUIO logo will be displayed faintly and partially on the top left corner of the controller tab in the left pane

      • The Full TUIO logo will be seen under the Touch injection if the controller is currently selected

    • Any unsaved changes to settings will be indicated by the "save" icon (floppy disk image) on the applicable controller's tab in the left pane

The sensor(s) being touched will be indicated by a bar that lights up in orange on the left of the listed controller tabs:

Selecting a Touch Controller

To switch between controllers:

  1. Open Displax Connect

  2. Locate the List of Touch Controllers on the left panel

  3. Click on the desired Touch Controller, or press the Tab key

    • The selected controller becomes available

    • All diagnostics, as well as changes to settings and calibration, now apply only to the selected controller

Controller-Specific Configuration

Each Touch Controller is managed independently. When a controller is selected, you can:

  • Enable or disable touch injection

  • Adjust Gain, Threshold, Shield, and other settings

  • Perform calibration

  • Monitor touch activity and frame data

⚠️ Changes made apply only to the currently selected Touch Controller and do not affect others.

  • Label each Touch Controller to avoid confusion in multi-screen setups:

    • Click on the "edit" icon next to Label

    • Type the desired label (13 character limit), and click on the check mark, or press Enter

    • The new label is saved and will also show on the controller tab in the left panel

  • Configure and calibrate controllers one at a time

  • Verify touch behavior on the correct display after switching controllers

Troubleshooting Tips

A controller is not visible in the list

  • Verify USB connection and power

  • Check USB hubs or extensions, more information here

  • Check that the operating system detects the device (example in Windows: Device Manager > Human Interface Devices > HID-compliant touch screen)

Settings seem to apply to the wrong screen

  • Ensure the correct Touch Controller is selected before making changes

  • Verify OS-level touchscreen-to-display mapping (especially on Windows and Linux multi-monitor setups)

Summary

The Multiple Touch Controllers feature in Displax Connect allows efficient management of complex multi-touch installations. By clearly listing all connected controllers and enabling per-device configuration, Displax Connect ensures precise control, accurate calibration, and reliable touch performance across all connected displays.
