Passive Object Recognition & TUIO Configuration in Displax Connect

Object Recognition

The Object Recognition feature enables physical (Passive) Tags to be identified and tracked as unique objects via the TUIO protocol.

  • When enabled: Tags are recognized as objects and TUIO messages (ID, position, rotation) are sent.

  • When disabled: Tags are treated as normal touchpoints; no object data is transmitted.

⚠️ Available on: DISPLAX Skin ULTRA, TILE, and TILE PRO only.

Configuring TUIO Output

To send touch events through the TUIO protocol:

  1. Click the TUIO icon in the top-right corner of Displax Connect.

  2. Select the appropriate Touch Controller if more than one is connected.

  3. Enter the IP address and Port of the receiving client - this is filled automatically for a single touch controller - for multiple controllers, increment the Port nmber for the subsequent controllers to 3334; 3335; etc. (see this example)

  4. Click “ADD TUIO CLIENT”.

💡 Important: Configure TUIO after finishing all touch setting adjustments and calibration.

TUIO Behavior After Setup

  • Once TUIO is active and events are received on the client PC, you can close Displax Connect.

  • TUIO will continue running in the background as a:

    • Daemon on Windows

    • Agent on macOS

To stop TUIO, follow the TUIO Shutdown Steps:

  1. Click the TUIO icon in the top-right corner of Displax Connect.
  2. Click the Trash Can icon under TUIO Clients.

⚠️ Limitations:
  • TUIO is limited to 20 simultaneous touches, regardless of OS.

  • It is recommended to stop TUIO before uninstalling Displax Connect.
