Lamination

Overview

The Touch Sensor must be laminated onto a non-conductive substrate, such as glass, acrylic, corian, wood, mirror, or other non-conductive material.

The touch sensors are available in 2 versions, permanent and removable:

  1. The permanent version has a layer of acrylic adhesive fused with the sensor and is covered by a protective layer to be peeled off prior to lamination.
  2. The removable version has no integral adhesive and is supplied along with a sheet of transparent polyvinyl chloride (PVC) polymer which provides a static adhesion when used with glass.

The permanent version is the most common Touch Sensor version. The Skin Dualtouch, FIT and Ultra can all be supplied with permanent adhesive. The permanent version cannot be removed and reused after lamination.

The removable version is only available for Skin DualTouch and FIT, and is only suitable for use with glass substrates. It can be removed from the glass substrate it has been laminated onto, and reapplied to a different glass substrate, provided it is removed gently and carefully to avoid damaging the Touch Sensor grid. We recommend that a new piece of the static PVC adhesive material is used for each new lamination.
