Palm Rejection

Palm Rejection

How to set the Palm Rejection feature

The Palm setting tells the DISPLAX Touch Sensor to ignore large-area touches, such as hands, palms, or arms, while still detecting finger touches. This prevents false touch inputs during normal interaction.

The rejection area can be adjusted according to the sensor size. Smaller touch sensors require higher Palm values since a hand covers more of their active cells. Conversely, larger sensors require smaller Palm values.

Use the table below as a reference for configuring Palm Rejection to ignore an adult palm:

Touch sensor dimensionsPalm setting value
30’’ to 41’’8
42’’ to 49’’7
50’’ to 64’’6
65’’ to 75’’5
>75’’4

⚠️ Note: Palm rejection is not available for Skin Dualtouch.
Tip: Depending on your DISPLAX product, palm and hand rejection visuals may differ slightly.

Visual Examples

Palm Rejection Off
When disabled, a full hand on the screen is detected as multiple touches.

Palm Rejection On (Incorrect Setting)
Palm rejection is enabled, but the area is not properly adjusted — some touches are still detected. Adjust the Palm value accordingly.

Palm Rejection On (Correct Setting)
With the correct configuration, the hand contour appears, but no touches are detected.

Arm Rejection Off
Palm rejection is not active: An arm is placed on the Touch Sensor, and the display is reporting multiple touches.

Arm Rejection
When properly configured, even when an arm rests on the screen, no false touches are reported.
