Configure COM Port Communication

To configure the COM port for serial communication, follow these steps:

  1. Access Communication Settings:

    • Navigate to the [Communication Settings] section of the software.
    • You will see options for [COM (Serial)] and [LAN (Network)] settings.
  2. Enable Serial Communication:

    • Select the [COM (Serial)] option to enable serial communication.
  3. Select the Serial Port:

    • Choose the COM port number corresponding to the port connected to the RS232 cable on your computer.
    • To identify the correct COM port:
      • Open the Device Manager on your computer.
      • Locate the RS232 connection under Ports (COM & LPT)
  4. Set Communication Parameters:

    • Configure the following settings:
      • Baud Rate: Set to 9600.
      • Data Bits: Leave as the default (usually 8 bits unless otherwise specified).
      • Parity Bits: Leave as the default (usually None unless specified).
      • Stop Bits: Leave as the default (usually 1 bit unless specified).
  5. Save Settings:

    • Click [OK] to confirm and save the settings.
  6. Test the Connection:

    • Verify the connection by testing control functions such as source switching or backlight adjustment.


Notes:

  • Ensure that the RS232 cable is securely connected between the computer and the videowall controller.
  • If communication fails, double-check the COM port number and baud rate in the Device Manager and the device in splice settings (NT68292).
