Integration of the Touch Controller

Integration of the Touch Controller

How to Proper integrate the Touch Controller?

To open the Touch Controller protective air-bag, carefully pierce the bag using a blade to release the air. This allows the controller to be removed safely and with minimal stress on components (see Packaging Section > Unpack).

Placement Considerations

Before fixing the Touch Controller in place, consider the following:

  • Ensure the flexible cable (FPC) reaches the Touch Controller connector easily

  • Ensure easy access to the USB port on the Touch Controller

  • Identify a grounding option close to the Touch Controller

  • 🚫 Avoid placing the controller near the LCD power source, which can generate EMI

Mounting the Touch Controller

Once the ideal location is identified:

  1. Avoid direct contact with metal surfaces.
The PCB must not rest directly on the LCD’s metal surface.

  2. Mounting Options:

    • Screws using the 3 mm mounting holes

    • Double-sided adhesive tape (ensure the adhesive is temperature-resistant)

  3. Maintain minimum 3 mm separation between the Touch Controller and the LCD to prevent electromagnetic interference (EMI). This can be achieved by:

    • Applying double-sided tape underneath the controller

    • Using metal standoffs fixed to the LCD chassis (recommended)

  4. Grounding the Touch Controller:

    • Use mounting screws into a grounded LCD chassis or

    • Connect the supplied grounding cable from the controller's socket to a metal part of the LCD chassis

⚠️ Proper grounding is mandatory to avoid touch performance issues due to electromagnetic noise from the display.
