What Is Considered Good Touch Performance?

What Is Considered Good Touch Performance?

Overview

Good touch performance refers to reliable, continuous, and accurate touch detection across the entire active area of a DISPLAX touch sensor, under normal user interaction conditions.

The guidelines below describe how to verify whether a touch sensor is correctly tuned and performing as expected.

Touch Performance Validation Checklist

1. Single-Finger Continuous Drag

  • Drag one finger across the screen

  • Finger should be held approximately 90° relative to the display

  • Apply minimal finger pressure

  • Touch detection must remain continuous and uninterrupted

  • Test across:

    • Center of the sensor

    • All borders and edges

2. Multi-Finger Drag Test

  • Repeat the drag test using two or more fingers

  • Touch detection must remain active for all fingers

  • No touch dropouts should occur during movement

3. Full-Hand Interaction Test

  • Use one hand with four fingers touching

  • Drag across the entire active area:

    • Left hand: left → right

    • Right hand: right → left

  • Touch detection must remain stable from one side to the other, without interruptions

Important Notes on Screen Size

  • Larger sensors need increased finger separation to maintain accurate detection

📄 Exact finger distance recommendations are defined in the technical specifications provided with each DISPLAX touch sensor.

Summary

A touch sensor is considered well-tuned when it provides:

  • Continuous drag without loss

  • Reliable multi-touch detection

  • Stable performance across center and edges

  • Correct behavior with minimal pressure

If these conditions are not met, further adjustment of Gain, Threshold, Shield, or Calibration may be required. For further assistance, contact support@displax.com
