What is DISPLAX Service?

DISPLAX Service Overview

DISPLAX Service is a background process (agent/daemon) installed alongside DISPLAX Connect that enables low-level communication with your DISPLAX Touch Controllers. It acts as a command-line interface, allowing advanced control, scripting, automation, and integration with tools (such as the DISPLAX SDK).

DISPLAX Connect uses DISPLAX Service to perform actions, communicate settings to hardware, and support features like remote configuration. Because it runs at a system level, the service must be installed and running to work with DISPLAX Connect via command-line interfaces.

Why DISPLAX Service Matters

DISPLAX Service enables:

  • Command-line control of touch settings and diagnostics

  • Integration support for automation and development tools

  • Remote configuration features (DISPLAX Cast)

  • Direct communication with DISPLAX hardware independently of the UI

It is a key component of advanced workflows beyond basic sensor calibration and configuration.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Ensure that DISPLAX Service is installed and running before using advanced features.

  • On Windows, confirm that the service directory exists and that firewall or antivirus software is not blocking access.

  • If you require remote discovery over a network, make sure network discovery is enabled and that DISPLAX Service is allowed through firewalls.
