Foil Health Test

Foil Health Test

Sensor Test – Foil Health (Displax Connect 4.1)

Overview

Displax Connect 4 and later includes the Foil Health feature, designed to verify the integrity of DISPLAX touch sensor foils before lamination or installation.

This test checks all internal electrodes for:

  • Signal loss
  • Inconsistent signal integrity
  • Unconnected rows or columns

⚠️ For DISPLAX Mesh products, use the Grid Test feature instead.

We strongly recommend performing the Foil Health test immediately after unpacking the sensor and before lamination.

This helps identify any handling or transport-related issues before integration.

How to Run the Foil Health Test

1. Enable Sensor Tools

In Displax Connect, under Settings, Enable Sensor Tools

This reveals the Foil Health button.

2. Start the Test

  • Click Foil Health
  • The Sensor Test begins automatically

An orange progress bar indicates the test is running while signals are checked across all electrodes.

Understanding the Results

Successful Result

If no issues are detected:

  • Columns OK
  • Rows OK

will be displayed.

Error Detection

If signal inconsistencies or broken lines are found:

  • The affected rows or columns are identified
  • A message appears:

    “Potential unconnected columns/rows”

If errors are detected:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable from the Touch Controller
  2. Carefully disconnect the FPC cables one at a time
  3. Clean the gold-plated contacts:
    • Using fingertips, or
    • Isopropyl alcohol if needed
  4. Reconnect the FPC cables carefully (Click here)
  5. Reconnect USB power
  6. Run the Foil Health test again

Disable Unconnected Electrodes

If only a small number of disconnected lines are detected, you may use:

Disable Unconnected Electrodes

This option:

  • Disables faulty lines
  • Prevents false touches or interference from the affected areas

⚠️ Fine-tuning may still be required. Contact support@displax.com.

Contact Support

If the same errors persist after reconnecting the FPC cables, this may indicate a physical issue with the sensor.
