Grid Test

Grid Test

Sensor Test – Grid Test (Displax Connect 4.1)

Overview

Displax Connect 4 and later includes the Grid Test feature, designed to verify the integrity of DISPLAX touch sensor foils before, during, and after installation.

The Grid Test checks all internal electrodes for:

  • Signal loss
  • Inconsistent signal integrity
  • Unconnected rows or columns

⚠️ For DISPLAX Skin Dualtouch, Fit, or Ultra products, use the Foil Health feature instead.

We strongly recommend performing the Grid Test immediately after unpacking the sensor and before installation.

This helps identify any transport, handling, or integration-related issues before final deployment.

How to Run the Grid Test

1. Enable Sensor Tools

In Displax Connect, under Settings, enable Sensor Tools to reveal the GridTest button.

2. Start the Test

  • Click GridTest
  • The Sensor Test begins automatically

An orange progress bar indicates the test is running while all electrodes are checked for signal consistency.

Understanding the Results

Successful Result

If no issues are detected, the following message is displayed:

  • Columns OK
  • Rows OK

Error Detection

If broken or inconsistent lines are detected:

  • The affected rows or columns are identified
  • A warning message appears:

“Potential unconnected columns/rows”

If errors are detected:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable from the Touch Controller
  2. Carefully disconnect the FPC cables one at a time
  3. Clean the gold-plated contacts:
    • Using fingertips, or
    • Isopropyl alcohol if needed
  4. Reconnect the FPC cables carefully
  5. Reconnect USB power
  6. Run the GridTest again

Disable Unconnected Electrodes

If only a small number of disconnected lines are detected, you may use:

Disable Unconnected Electrodes

This option:

  • Disables faulty lines
  • Prevents false touches or interference from the affected areas

⚠️ Fine-tuning may still be required. Contact support@displax.com.

Contact Support

If the same errors persist after reconnecting the FPC cables, this may indicate a physical issue with the sensor.
