When using DisplayPort daisy-chain mode, each group of TILE units is detected by the Operating System as one single display.
This allows you to bypass GPU output limitations to build larger video walls efficiently.
In the example below, we will configure a 4×2 video wall (8 TILE units) using:
Two independent 2×2 daisy-chained groups, A & B
Internal videowall processing per group
GPU Mosaic to merge both groups
Group A → 2×2 TILE units
Group B → 2×2 TILE units
Open Device Manager and Expand "Ports (COM & LPT)" to see which is the Serial Comm Port:
Launch LcdWall.exe
To change the language, select the 2nd menu item, and English is the lower option on the list:
Select the corresponding COM port from the dropdown menu, or click Refresh to auto select:
Enlarge the window, or enter full screen mode to reveal more controls, and click on Open COM
You will notice the text change in the bottom left corner:
Under the Combination Set tab, configure the matrix as 2 rows × 4 columns, then click on Set to apply:
Change Input Source to DP
Select all units by clicking on the first unit, and dragging across all the rest of the units
Right click the selection, hover over Input Source, and select DP:
Perform ID mapping
Click on the Screen Addr button:
In the dialog that opens, click on Display MacKey:
Each TILE Pro will display a unique Mac Key, example:
Starting from the first unit, in the upper row, on the left, manually enter the Mac Key seen on that Tile Pro in the Mac Key field, then enter number 1 in the Panel Unit ID field, and click on Change:
Repeat this for the remaining units, setting the second TILE Pro unit Panel Unit ID to 2, the third to 3, and so on.
Merge each group:
Select the 4 units from the first group (1, 2, 5, and 6) by clicking on one and dragging across the other 3:
Click on Merge:
Repeat the steps for the 2nd group, select units 3, 4, 7, and 8, and click on Merge:
This is within the 4K daisy-chain limit.
Once both groups are merged via the LcdWall software, each group outputs: 1920 × 1080. Now it is necessary to set the resolution of each group to 3840x2160 on the GPU settings, example: NVidia Control Panel - Change Resolution:
The OS detects 2 displays
Display 1 → 3840×2160
Display 2 → 3840×2160
Now set up Mosaic, and complete the steps to merge the videowall into one large display (NVIDIA Mosaic example):
Click on Set up Mosaic
Click on Create new configuration
Select both displays
Choose layout:
1 row × 2 columns
Apply Mosaic
Follow the steps for Bezel Correction to complete the setup.
Please click here to see how to calibrate the videowall for Touch accuracy:
The GPU merges both 4K groups into one large canvas with a total resolution of: 7680 × 2160
You now have:
8 physical TILE units
2 internally merged groups
1 final unified display detected by the OS
Each daisy-chain group stays within the 4K limit
GPU only handles 2 displays instead of 8
You bypass typical 4-output GPU limitations
Configuration remains stable and scalable
Each daisy-chain group cannot exceed 3840×2160
RS232 mapping must be completed before GPU Mosaic
Refresh rate should remain consistent (60Hz recommended)
Use certified DisplayPort cables
| Stage | Resolution |
|---|---|
| Per TILE | 1920×1080 |
| Per 2×2 Group | 3840×2160 |
| Final 2×4 Wall | 7680×2160 |
