Testing Before Lamination

Testing Before Lamination

How do I test Ultra & Fit touch sensors before lamination?

Why testing is important

Before laminating the touch sensor, it's crucial to test it for:

  • Shipping-related damage (rare but possible)

  • Compatibility or interference with the glass or surface

  • Electrical faults from conductive materials in the mounting surface

⚠️Even though all sensors are thoroughly tested before shipment, this is a one-time installation product, so testing before every next step is essential.

Tools you’ll need:

  • Touch Controller board

  • USB cable

  • Laptop or PC with Displax Connect installed

Testing procedure

  1. Remove the air from the protective pouch

  2. Carefully remove the Touch Controller

  3. Connect the Touch Controller to the Touch Sensor

    • ✅ Ensure the connection is secure

  4. Connect the Touch Controller to your PC/laptop using the USB cable

  5. Place the glass on top of the sensor (same surface you’ll use for lamination)

  6. Apply slight pressure to secure the glass

  7. Launch Displax Connect

  8. Restart the Controller from within the software

  9. Touch the glass to check responsiveness

ℹ️ If you're only testing the sensor (not the surface), it's acceptable to touch the sensor directly.

Video Tutorial

What is considered good touch performance?

  • ✅ Smooth single-finger drag across the entire area (center + edges), without detection loss

  • ✅ Smooth multi-finger drag across the area, with fingers held vertically (90º)

  • 4-finger drag test: Use both hands to drag fingers in opposite directions across the screen (left → right and right → left)

  • ✅ On larger screens, maintain more distance between fingers to ensure proper detection

📏 This test is based on a 42-inch display. Larger displays require wider finger spacing for optimal performance.
