Skin Zeeto Lamination Process

The correct lamination to glass of the Skin Zeeto sensors ensures durability, accuracy, and long-term performance.

This article explains the recommended step-by-step lamination process. A full video tutorial can also be found here.

1. Preparing the Workspace

  • Work in a bright, dust-free room to avoid contamination.

  • Use ethyl alcohol and a soft, non-abrasive or microfiber cloth to clean the glass.

  • Carefully inspect the glass under light reflection to ensure it is free of dust, grease, or particles.

  • Repeat the cleaning process on both sides of the glass.

2. Preparing the Lamination Solution (MIX)

Prepare a liquid solution:

  • 90% distilled or bottled water

  • 10% Johnson’s Baby Shampoo (pH 5.5)

This MIX is used throughout the process to clean and laminate.

3. Preparing the Glass

  1. Spray a thin layer of the MIX onto the lamination side of the glass.

  2. Use a squeegee to spread and remove the solution.

  3. Repeat: spray again, then thoroughly clean with the squeegee.

4. Preparing the Sensor (Foil)

  1. Spray a layer of MIX on the lamination wall or table.

  2. Hold the foil straight and place it on the wall/table, with the QA (Quality Assurance) label facing you.

  3. Press gently to make it stick in place.

  4. Wet your fingers with the MIX, then spray the foil’s top edge.

  5. Hold the QA label and peel away the protective layer diagonally, stopping once you reach the tail (FPC cables).

  6. Spray the foil surface with MIX.

  7. At the tail, create a small crease in the protective layer and cut it carefully, keeping the tail covered.

5. Placing the Foil on the Glass

  1. Spray MIX over the entire glass surface.

  2. Wet your fingers and spray MIX all over the foil.

  3. Carefully lift the foil from the wall/table.

  4. Place the foil onto the glass, aligning it correctly.

  5. Spray another layer of MIX on top of the foil once placed.

6. Laminating with the Squeegee

  1. Hold the foil in place with one hand.

  2. With the other hand, pull the squeegee across the foil to expel the MIX.

  3. Always pull in straight, consistent motions, applying even pressure.

  4. Inspect for dust, bubbles, or contaminants between the foil and glass.

  5. Repeat: spray MIX again over the foil, then squeegee to remove all liquid.

7. Final Inspection & Drying

  • Under bright light, carefully inspect the laminated foil for bubbles or particles.

  • Clean and dry any remaining liquid with paper towels.

  • Place the laminated foil flat, sensor side facing up, and let it dry for 24 hours in a clean area.

⚠️ Do not touch the touch sensor during drying.
Ideal drying conditions: 20–25 ºC, 30–45% humidity.
