General Integration Tips and Installation Best Practices

DISPLAX Skin Ultra

Proper integration of DISPLAX Skin Ultra is critical to ensure reliable touch performance and long-term stability. Because Skin Ultra is designed for custom installations, careful attention must be given to mechanical mounting, electrical environment, and cable routing.

Glass and Lamination Considerations

  • Use glass thickness appropriate to the sensor size

  • Avoid air bubbles, uneven pressure, or contaminants during lamination

  • Ensure uniform contact across the full active area

  • For thicker glass or air gaps, additional fine-tuning may be required

Mechanical Integration Tips

  • Mount the sensor flat and without mechanical stress

  • Avoid bending, twisting, or forcing the sensor during installation

  • Ensure the display structure does not introduce vibration

  • Ground metallic frames properly to reduce EMI

Electrical and EMI Considerations

  • Keep the touch controller and USB cables away from:

    • Power supplies

    • LED drivers

    • High-current cables

  • Ensure proper grounding of:

    • Display frame

    • Controller

    • Power sources

  • Use shielded USB cables

Tail (Flex Cable) Handling

The tail (flex cable) is the most sensitive part of the Skin Ultra sensor.

Best Practices for the Tail

  • Never fold or crease the tail

  • Respect the minimum bending radius

  • Avoid sharp edges or metal contact points

  • Do not apply pressure or adhesive directly over the tail traces

  • Secure the tail so it cannot move or vibrate over time

⚠️ Damage to the tail is permanent and not repairable.

Controller Placement

  • Mount the controller in a ventilated, dry area

  • Avoid placing it directly behind power supplies or heat sources

  • Ensure easy access for maintenance and firmware updates

Before Powering On

  • Verify all connections are secure

  • Confirm the tail is stress-free

  • Check grounding continuity

  • Ensure no metallic parts are contacting the sensor traces

Final Integration Tips

  • Always fine-tune the sensor using DISPLAX Connect

  • Close DISPLAX Connect after configuration

  • Test:

    • Single touch

    • Multi-touch

    • Edge and corner response

  • Re-check touch behavior after final enclosure assembly
